MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Another former Middle Tennessee men's golf standout is officially back on campus as Kent Bulle has re-joined his old team as the new men's golf assistant coach, head men's golf coach Mark McEntire announced Thursday.
The announcement comes just three weeks after Bulle's Blue Raider teammate, Chas Narramore, was announced as the new assistant coach of the MT women's golf program under head coach Chris Adams.
"It's awesome to be back," Bulle said. "I feel like I've still been around a lot, living in Murfreesboro and practicing at The Grove, and I'm always following these guys to see what they're doing. I just care about this program so much.
"This place couldn't have been a better fit for me in terms of the city, school or program, so I'm extremely happy to be a part of it once again as a coach now."
Bulle, like Narramore, enjoyed an excellent playing career as a Blue Raider from 2006-10 that included a Sun Belt Conference Team Championship, three NCAA Regional appearances and an NCAA National Championship appearance in 2008.
Individually, Bulle owns four low medalist honors – winning the 2007 USA Jaguar Intercollegiate, 2009 All-American Classic, 2009 Aldila Scenic Invite and 2010 Mobile Bay Intercollegiate – and qualified for the 2007 United States Amateur.
The Glasgow, Ky., native was an All-Sun Belt selection as a senior and was twice named an All-American Scholar by the Cleveland Golf Coaches Association of America.
"It is great to have Kent back home," McEntire stated. "He will be a tremendous asset in the transition this season. His playing experience will be extremely valuable to our players and I look forward to starting this season with him back in the program."
Since the completion of his collegiate career, Bulle has competed in various professional tours with a pair of PGA Tour Latinoamerica wins to his name at the Visa Open de Argentina.
His second win in Argentina automatically qualified him for a spot in the 2017 Open Championship just a year after his major debut at the 2016 U.S. Open. Bulle made the cut at Royal Birkdale after an opening round 2-under 68 placed him in the Top 12 and he entered Saturday at The Open Championship at even par.
Most recently, Bulle has been competing on the Web.com Tour where he has collected seven Top 25 finishes and narrowly missed his first career Top 10 twice in 2017 with a pair of Top 15 finishes.
Bulle has recently taken an indefinite leave from the Web.com Tour due to injury in order to rehab, opening the door at a perfect time for him to begin his coaching career with the Blue Raiders.
"The timing just worked out perfectly with me being out hurt right now to give me an unbelievable opportunity to give back to this program and help out with the guys," Bulle added.
