Blue Raiders Split Season Opening Doubleheader

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee started off the 2019 campaign taking down Lipscomb in the after falling to Austin Peay in a doubleheader at the Adams Tennis Complex on Saturday. Blue Raiders won four doubles matches and six singles on the split.
Against Austin Peay, MT earned the doubles point with wins from Costanza Magazzini/Zani Barnard and Luisa Zirilli/Kim Kermet while Marta Peris Herrero/Lee Barnard did not finish with the score knotted at 5s. The Blue Raiders grinded out close singles matches but only earning wins with Zani Barnard and Luisa Zirilli.
The nightcap ended in celebration as Coach Tayo Bailey-Duvall notched her first win at MT by a score of 5-2 over Lipscomb. Just as before, the Blue Raiders clinched the doubles point with wins from Magazzini/Barnard and Zirilli/Kermet. In the second match, MT broke through as they grabbed wins from Costanza Magazzini, Lidia Burrows, Lee Barnard and Luisa Zirilli in singles competition earning the Blue Raiders win.

The Blue Raiders will travel to Austin, Texas, January 26th to compete in the ITA Kickoff Weekend starting off with a duel match against Texas at 11 AM.
