MURFREESBORO, TN. – Coming off a dominate home conference win over UTEP, the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (5-6-1, 2-1-1 C-USA) head on the road for two games over the weekend.
On Friday, the Raiders head to Old Dominion (7-3-2, 1-3-0 C-USA) to take the Monarchs in the mid-point of the conference slate. Next stop will be Charlotte, N.C. on Sunday for a battle by the beach with Charlotte 49ers (8-3-0, 3-1-0 C-USA).
Both games will be streamed on Conference USA Digital.
HOME VICTORY
The Lady Raiders made a statement in their 6-1 victory Sunday over a quality opponent in the UTEP Miners, who were on a three match winning streak. This match saw five different players score goals for the Raiders, with junior Peyton DePriest netting two goals.
The six goals scored by Middle Tennessee is their most since putting away six on Jacksonville State in August of 2016.
It didn't take long for the scoring party to commence for MTSU, with Amber Hoot gets her first goal of the season directly off a corner just seven minutes into the game. Hannah Tillett quickly followed with a goal of her own a couple minutes later, slotting away a penalty kick.
The highlight of the match came off of a beautifully executed set piece early in the first half. Claire Ramet drilled a shot into the upper left corner after a perfect lay-off from Amber Hoot.
DePriest and Sam DeBien would also join in on the early scoring party, which would put MT up 5-0. The Raiders five goals would come within 14 minutes of each other, a very impressive feat.
Not only were the Raiders dominate on the offensive side of the ball, they held the Miners to zero shots on target in the first half, while putting five shots on target and scoring five goals giving them a 100% conversion rate.
The Raiders would go on to dominate in the second half, adding another goal to their tally by way of a penalty kick scored by Peyton DePriest, bringing her total to nine goals for this season and she is just six away from breaking the program record for goals scored in a career.
