MT Hosts FIU and FAU this Weekend

C-USA tournament berth at stake this weekend
MURFREESBORO, TN. – The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (5-8-1, 2-3-1 C-USA) will host a two-game homestand, squaring off against FIU Panthers (2-11-0, 0-6-0) on Thursday at 7 p.m. and FAU Owls (10-3-0, 4-1-0 C-USA) at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Huge weekend for the Blue Raiders as they are seeking to reach the Conference USA tournament for the third-straight time.
Thursday game is broadcasted on C-USA Digital and is Lace Up 4 Pediatric Cancer as the Blue Raiders will have yellow shoe strings in support of all who have been affected by Pediatric Cancer. Sunday's game with FAU will be broadcasted on ESPN+ and the Think Pink game, the Raiders will wear pink in support of anyone who has dealt with Breast Cancer.
CRUSHING DEFEAT
The Blue Raiders suffered a crushing overtime 3-2 defeat against Old Dominion. The two Raider stalwarts Hannah Tillett and Peyton DePriest notched goals in the 5th and 70th minute respectively.
The first half was tightly contested by both teams with 1-1 left on the board after 45. The Blue Raiders quickly got on the score sheet after reigning C-USA Offensive Player of the Year Peyton DePriest pressured the Monarch box forcing a penalty kick. Hannah Tillett easily converts the PK giving the Raiders the early 1-0 lead, she is 9-9 in her career.
Old Dominion would respond minutes later as Talia Tapper scored her sixth goal of the season. The Mondarchs outshot the Blue Raiders 12-2 in the first half.
Junior Peyton DePriest had the goal of the match for the Raiders midway through the second half, after Casey Riemer sent a ball into the box where the dangerous DePriest put in her 10th goal of the season off a right foot.
Old Dominion equalized the score with just a little over five minutes remaining in regulation. The game would enter OT, which is the third OT of the season for Middle Tennessee and fifth for the Monarchs.
With a mere three minutes left in the first OT, Megan Watts secured the win for Old Dominion after a deep ball from Talia Tapper.
FIVE UNANSWERED
Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders took their third-straight road loss, fell to the Charlotte 49ers 5-2 on Sunday afternoon. The Raiders scored the first two goals but the 49ers would score five unanswered goals to take the win and first-placed standings. They drop to 5-8-1, 2-3-1 C-USA.
Peyton DePriest has scored in three-straight games putting her total to 11 goals this season off an assist from Amber Hoot (2nd).
The strong start from the Blue Raiders continued with a Sam DeBien (2nd) goal with an assist from MacKenzie Bonham (1st).
The rest of the game Charlotte would hold the Blue Raiders scoreless as the 49ers scored five unanswered goals. Four of the five goals came off Charlotte corner kicks. The 2018 C-USA First Teamer Megan Greene knocked in two goals off of corners.

Sitting in tied for T-7th in the Conference USA standings with UTEP and UAB, the Blue Raiders are in much need of points this weekend against two tough Florida teams. The top eight teams during the regular-season, as determined by points, will advance to the tournament. Winner of the single-elimination tournament will advance to the NCAA Championship.
SENIOR CONSISTENCY
Senior midfielder Amber Hoot has started an impressive 64 games in her career (leads the team). On the defensive back line, Casey Riemer has anchored the line in 61 career starts (second on team). Riemer and Hoot combined for over 100+ career starts and 10,500+ minutes played.
RECORD WATCH
Junior forward Peyton DePriest is 2nd all-time in program history with 35 career goals scored. She is just four goals shy of breaking the all-time record which is currently held by Holly Grogan with 38 goals scored. Be sure to continue watching as DePriest continues to break records.
