Volleyball to Face North Texas and Southern Miss

MURFREESBORO, Tenn.—The Middle Tennessee volleyball team is hitting the road to Denton, Texas to face North Texas Friday at 7 p.m. CT, and then to Hattiesburg, Miss. to take on Southern Miss Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.

The Blue Raiders faced the UT Martin Skyhawks in their last outing on Tuesday in Martin, Tenn. MT downed UT Martin in four sets by scores of 25-23, 23-25, 25-20, 27-25. Senior Dora Peonia led the attacks for the fourth straight match with 21 kills and a .636 hitting percentage. Bri Tankesley tallied her 1,000th dig in the third set, and finished with a total 12 digs on the match. Taylor Hammill recorded her ninth double-double on the year with her 48 assists and 15 digs.
Scouting the Opponent
North Texas
Outside hitter Valerie Valerian leads the team attacks with 264 total kills on the year. She is ranked second in the conference for her 4.19 kills per set. Kaliegh Skopal leads the conference in assists with a total 676 on the year and 11.42 assists per set. Freshman defensive specialist Alleyah Galdeira is ranked seventh in the league for digs with 4.19 digs per set and a total 209 digs on the season.
North Texas is ranked third in the conference and is currently on a five game winning streak after defeating Marshall Sunday in four sets.
The Mean Green leads 13-12 in the overall series between the two teams, and in their last meeting on November 2, 2018, the Blue Raiders fell to the North Texas in three sets.
Southern Miss
Freshman outside hitter Gillian Hidalgo leads the Golden Eagles' attacks with a total 125 kills on the season. Junior libero Madison Lawler leads the team defense with 313 total digs and 4.60 digs per set.
The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series 5-3, and in their last meeting on Sept, 30, 2018, Southern Miss defeated the Blue Raiders in three sets.

- Urte Neimantaite tallied a career-high 19 kills on two occasions, against Tennessee Tech and Marshall. She has one double-double on the season and has led the team attacks on seven occasions.
- Neimantaite is ranked 10th in the conference for her average 3.16 kills per set.
- Taylor Hammill recorded her 2,000th career-assist against Marshall on October 11. She has also recorded nine double-doubles this season. Hammill is ranked third in the conference for her 9.93 assists per set.
- Hammill has a season-high 52 assists and 18 digs.
- Bri Tankesley recorded her 1,000th dig against UT Martin on October 22. She also recorded a career-high four aces against Alabama A&M and a season-high 26 digs against Marshall.
- Tankesley is also ranked ninth in the conference for her average 3.66 digs per set.
- Kayla Henley has recorded four double-doubles on the season. She also tallied a career-high 19 digs against Western Illinois.
- Marley Banton leads the team with a total 19 aces on the year.
- Mikaela Weidmann leads the team in blocks with 65.0.
