VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Middle Tennessee Women's Golf closed out the Princess Anne Invitational with a round of 13-over par 293 on Sunday to log a 13th place finish in Virginia.
Junior Sophie Burks moved up the individual leaderboard on the final day, carding a 1-over par 71 to finish the week as MT's leader at 6-over par (71-74-71=216) and just outside the Top 20.
Besting Burks' stellar round on the final day was classmate Caroline Caudill, whose 1-under par scorecard was enough to give her the second lowest 54-hole score (+12) of the week for the Blue Raiders.
Sophomore Madison Smith struggled through the final round after looking impressive through the first two days of action, finishing the week one stroke back of Caudill at 13-over par.
Fellow sophomore Catherine Caudill produced the opposite outcome, fighting back on day three with her best round of the week at 3-over par 73 after a slow start in Virginia Beach.
"Caroline had a great day and Sophie did as well despite going out of bounds late in her round," "It was good to see Catherine finish with a solid round as well. We just have to get more consistent throughout the lineup for an entire tournament."
Freshman Molly Bebelaar rounded out the scoring for the Blue Raider lineup with a 10-over par 80 while junior Savannah Quick, playing as an individual, turned in a 6-over par 76 effort on the final day.
Middle Tennessee is now through four of its five fall tournaments, with only Louisville's Cardinal Cup still on the schedule.
"Everyone this week proved they can score low and when we put it all together, this group is going to be tough," "Now we have a week and a half for much needed rest and practice to get ready for Louisville."
The Blue Raiders tee off the three-day event in Louisville on Oct. 18.
