PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – Middle Tennessee concluded round two of the White Sands Intercollegiate with a scorecard of 7-over par 295, falling to 10th place after a 9-under 279 in round one saw them high up the team standings after 18 holes.
The Blue Raiders remain within striking distance of some of the nation's top teams, currently only eight strokes back of No. 2 SMU who is in fifth place in the team standings.
Individually, the Raiders were steady across the board on Saturday with five rounds of either 1-over par or 2-over par, but failed to match the low numbers posted in round one.
"I don't feel like we played that poorly today," Head Coach Mark McEntire said. "I am happy with the consistency in our scores today, but we just missed the under par rounds we had yesterday."
Sophomore Palmer Sadlowski bounced back in round two with the best score of the day for MT, posting a 1-over par 73 to improve by five strokes from his opening round.
Senior Tanner Owens and the freshmen trio of Michael Barnard, Mattias Varjun and Steven Haremski all turned in rounds of 2-over par 74 on Saturday.
Owens remains the highest Blue Raider in the individual standings, currently tied for 22nd, while Barnard and Haremski still hold spots in the top half of the field in a tie for 42nd place.
Junior Ilari Saulo closed out the scoring for MT on the day with a 4-over par 76 that saw him finish the day tied for 35th with 18 holes remaining on Sunday.
"We played the par 5 holes terrible today," McEntire added. "That kept us from staying in a spot to contend. We will have to leave it all out there tomorrow for the last round of the fall."
The final round is set to tee off in a shotgun start at 7:00 a.m. CT, as the Blue Raiders begin their day on holes 10-13 alongside Northern Illinois and Georgia Southern.
