Blue Raiders, Charlotte tip Feb. 23 at 5 PM
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – With the traditional portion of the Conference USA Men's Basketball schedule now complete, the league office announced each member institution's four opponents, locations and dates for the four Bonus Play games Saturday evening.
The Blue Raiders, currently in 12th despite a stretch of impressive play of late that saw them win five of seven before dropping their last three contests to the Top 3 teams from the league's preseason poll, will host 13 seed UTEP and 14 seed Charlotte while traveling to 11 seed Rice and 13 seed UTEP.
Middle Tennessee's first contest will come at home next Saturday against the 49ers in a 5:00 p.m. tip. The Blue Raiders defeated Charlotte in Murfreesboro just a couple of weeks ago by a final score of 71-53.
Head Coach Nick McDevitt and his squad then travel out to Houston on March 3 for their second game at Rice since Jan. 24. Middle Tennessee dropped the first meeting 79-68, but turned things around soon after to reel off three straight wins.
The Blue Raiders remain in Texas on March 6 for their third game of Bonus Play at UTEP. The Miners, who MT defeated in Murfreesboro on Jan. 19 by a score of 75-72, will make the return trip to Murfreesboro on March 9 to conclude Bonus Play in the third meeting between the teams this season.
In order to lock up a spot in the Conference USA Championship in Fricso, Middle Tennessee must retain its place in 12th in the standings or move up to 11th. The Blue Raiders are, however, locked into their Bonus Play pod and can not earn a seeding any higher than 11th in the tournament.
