TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama (16-2) used a two out, two RBI single in the sixth inning to pull ahead of the Blue Raiders (5-11) on their way to a 2-0 victory.
The Crimson Tide came into the game riding an 11-game winning streak but the Blue Raiders gave them their best shot.
Five different Blue Raider pitchers combined to hold Alabama to six hits. Drew Huff earned the start, going two innings and striking out five Crimson Tide hitters. Left-hander David Zoz relieved Huff in the third inning, going two strong innings. Josh Young, Scheldon Paulk, and John Dowless combined for the final four innings giving up just three hits between them.
At the plate, the Blue Raiders were led by Brycen Thomas, who went 2-for-4 with two singles. Nick Carnevale, Blake Benefield, and Myles Christian also had hits for MT. Drew Huff reached base twice as he doubled in the first inning, and was hit by a pitch in the third.
This is the fourth straight game versus an SEC team for the Blue Raiders, with all four games being close late. While the wins aren't there yet, the young Blue Raiders are improving on the field as we head into conference play.
