SAN ANTONIO - After dropping both games of a doubleheader yesterday, the Middle Tennessee softball team (15-14, C-USA 1-2) bounced back, winning in an exciting extra inning affair against conference opponent UTSA (13-14, C-USA 2-1.)

Middle Tennessee 11, UTSA 9

The Blue Raiders collected a total of five home runs to power them back from a 9-5 deficit, and would go on to win 11-9 in nine innings.
After jumping out to an early 5-3 lead, on a pair of home runs by Jocelynn De La Cruz and Ryan King, MT would lose the lead in the next half inning. UTSA's Paige Pacher would double in the bottom of the inning, scoring two Roadrunners and knotting the game up at, 5-5. Bailee Baldwin would give UTSA a, 9-5, lead on a grand slam to right field.
With one out in the fifth, Lexi Cushing would hit her third home run of the series and cut the UTSA lead to 9-7.
In the top of the seventh inning, Cushing drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a fielder's choice. Kirstyn Cuccia came through in the clutch, singling down the left field line to bring Cushing around from second to tie the game, 9-9.
In the ninth inning Cushing came to the dish and hit her second home run of the game (fourth in the last three games.) Cuccia would follow Cushing with a solo home run of her own stretching the Raider lead to 11-9.
Corrina Dodd picked up her eighth win on the season.

Up Next

The Raiders will return home on Thursday, at 4 P.M. to face Maine in a one game series.
