MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee returns to the court Sunday with a chance to lock up a Conference USA Championship berth on the line when they take on Rice in Houston for the second time this season.
A Blue Raider win or a loss by UTEP at Charlotte would send Middle Tennessee back to Frisco for the second playing at The Ford Center at The Star of the C-USA Basketball Tournament.
Middle Tennessee will look to ride another strong performance from post man Reggie Scurry, who collected 22 points and a career-high 12 points the last time the Blue Raiders entered Tudor Fieldhouse.
In order to turn around the 79-68 loss the Raiders suffered in the last meeting, however, Scurry will need help from leading scorer Antonio Green. The sweet-shooting junior has been hot as of late with 36 threes over his last seven games, but was held to just 10 points by the Owls just over a month ago.
Rice, meanwhile, will counter with reigning C-USA Player of the Week Robert Martin (23 points and 13 rebounds last Saturday at UTEP) as well as guard Chris Mullins, who scored 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting last time the two teams faced.
The Blue Raiders and Owls are set to tip at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Tudor Fieldhouse. The contest will be streamed live on C-USA TV.
