Wigginton throws complete game in win over LA Tech

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Left-hander Peyton Wigginton tossed his second complete game of the season en route to the Blue Raiders (8-14, 3-2) defeating LA Tech (13-9, 1-4) by a score of 4-1 on Saturday evening.
"Peyton was really good," head coach Jim Toman said. "He had all three pitches going against a really good hitting team."
Wigginton had the Bulldogs offense off balance all day, striking out nine batters and walking just one. LA Tech did grab a run in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly but wouldn't threaten to score the rest of the way. The lefty also put together four, 1-2-3 innings.
Offensively, the wealth was shared evenly. Myles Christian showed signs of breaking out of his early season slump, cracking a triple over the center fielder's head in the second inning, and then doubling his next time up in the fourth. He would come around to score twice, one of those on a Darrell Freeman Jr. single in the second inning. Freeman would use a sacrifice fly in the fourth inning to score Brycen Thomas.
Buddy Fultz earned his first career start as a Blue Raider and he made the most of the opportunity. The Johns Creek, GA. native connected for two hits, including a base knock on the first pitch he saw in the second inning. Fultz would drive in his first RBI with a base hit up the middle in the sixth inning to score Christian.
The play of the game came in the third inning, when JT Mabry leaped into the Bulldogs dugout to snag a foul pop-up.
