Byrd collects second C-USA weekly honor

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee senior Marcus Byrd collected his second Conference USA weekly award in his last three appearances Wednesday when the league office named him C-USA Male Golfer of the Week following his even par (70-77-69=216) performance at the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate.
Byrd's first and third rounds both came in under par at Bulls Bay Golf Club, making him one of only 26 golfers in the field to card multiple rounds under par.
His 3-under 69 in the final round was his second round in the 60s and fifth round of par or better despite missing the fall season due to injury.
Byrd's team-leading performance allowed the Blue Raiders to knock off No. 48 Ole Miss to earn a Top 50 win while the senior earned three wins over Top 100 ranked individuals.
The Atlanta native has now led the Blue Raiders in two of their last three events after capturing a share of the individual title at the challenging Puerto Rico Classic just over a month ago to earn his first Golfer of the Week honor of the semester.
Byrd and the Blue Raiders are back in action next week as they return to the Mason Rudolph Championship in nearby Franklin, Tenn.
