Raiders Claim Two Top-Finishes in Austin and Raleigh

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee track and field team competed in two meets throughout the day across two different states including, the 92nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas and the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Throughout the two meets today, Middle Tennessee claimed two top-5 finishes from Benjamin Onyekwelu on the field in Texas and Kigen Chemadi on the track in Raleigh.
Blue Raiders Among the Top-5
Benjamin Onyekwelu claimed the first top-5 position of the weekend at the Texas Relays. The freshman recorded a fourth-place finish in the Section B men's long jump with a distance of 7.42m.
Meanwhile at the Raleigh Relays, Kigen Chemadi inked fifth place in 5,000-meter with a time of 13:46.84.
92nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays | Results
The 4x100-meter relay team of Mensah, Castor, Francis and Odidiong claimed 16th at the Texas relays on Friday morning with a time of 46.36. Meanwhile on the men's side, Hugle, Petty, Edoki, and Wright finished 19th in their relay.
Likewise, in Middle Tennessee's second relay of the day, the 4x400-meter, the women's team of Castor, Akanwogba, Assafuah and Egbeniyi claimed 14th place, just missing the qualification for the finals (3:46.50).
As an individual, Cecilia Francis posted a 29th place finish in the women's 100-meter dash, missing the qualification for the finals by .17 seconds.
Raleigh Relays | Results
Eulisa Chepkemei claims a top-15 finish in the women's 1,500-meter event on Friday evening. The Middle Tennessee sophomore finished the race with a time of 4:22.80. Meanwhile, for the men, Brian Rono claimed a second place finish in his heat and a 39th overall finish in the 1,500-meter event (3:54.36).
Joice Jebor claimed 36th in the Raleigh Relays in the 5,000-meter with a time of 16:41.66 while Julia Jelagat inked 98th (17:31.17). On the men's side, Lebo Mosito finished 23rd in the 5,000-meter with a time of 14:08.71.
In the final event of the day, Jacob Choge claimed 21st in Raleigh in the men's 10,000-meter event. Choge crossed the line with a time 29:24.27.
