Raiders Travel to Alabama, Virginia this Weekend

AUBURN, Ala. – The Middle Tennessee men and women's track and field teams continue their outdoor slate at the War Eagle Invitational in Auburn, Ala. on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20.
The Blue Raiders will compete at the Hutsell-Rosen Track for the two-day invitational hosted by Auburn University. Middle Tennessee is set to compete in 46 individual events and six relay events this week.
Similarly, KIgen Chemadi will travel to Charlottesville, Virginia with the track and field assistant coach, Keith Vroman to compete in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase at the Virginia Challenge on Friday evening.
Chemadi, Edoki, Egbeniyi Claim C-USA Weekly Honors
At the halfway point of the season, the Middle Tennessee track and field team has claimed three Conference USA weekly honors.
Kigen Chemadi and Fabian Edoki claimed the first honors of the outdoor slate, earning the men's track and field athlete of the week accolades.
Chemadi claimed the track honor after claiming a fifth-place finish at the Raleigh Relays in the 5,000-meter event. The distance runner notched a career-best time of 13:46.84 to earn the honor. Similarly, Edoki placed fifth the same week at the Texas Relays in the men's long jump to earn the field weekly honor. Edoki posted a distance of 8.00m in the field event.
Most recently, Abike Egbeniyi earned the C-USA Female Track Athlete of the Week accolade after claiming the champion title on the women's 400-meter dash at the Tiger Track Classic. Egbeniyi crossed the line with a time of 52.64, best of any female athlete in the conference this season.
Last Time Out: Blue Raider Top-Finishes at the Tennessee Relays
Willington Wright claimed the title of the Tennessee Relays Champion in the men's 400-meter dash last Friday afternoon. The Middle Tennessee freshman claimed gold on the track, crossing with a time of 46.75, just missing his personal best by .22 seconds.
Similarly, Abike Egbeniyi posted a second-place finish in the women's 800-meter with a season-best time of 2:04.04.
The women's distance medley team of Joice Jebor, Joycelyn Assafuah, Eulisa Chepkemei, and Abike Egbeniyi clinched first-place to open up the Relays last Saturday. The team finished with a time of 11:23.01.
Likewise, the men's 1,600 sprint medley relay team (Lamarco Petty, Willington Wright, Jaquez Torian, and Tre'Von Sanders) claimed the Tennessee Relays champion title, crossing the line with a time of 3:22.44.
The relay team of Ida Mensah, Mirlege Castor, Cecilia Francis, and Edidiong Odiong placed fifth-place in the women's 400 relay (46.02).
