Rono Earns a Champion Title at the War Eagle Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. – Three Blue Raiders open up the War Eagle Invitational on the track Friday evening, placing among the top-15 in their respective events.

Brian Rono claimed the champion title in the men's 1,500-meter invitational. The Blue Raider freshman notched his first-place title, crossing the line with a time of 3:53.85. Rono's time marks his second-best finish of the season, as he claimed his career-best at the Tennessee Relays with a time of 3:52.81.

Meanwhile on the women's side, Rachel Kigen and Racheal Kosgei inked top-15 finishes in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Kigen crossed the line sixth, posting a time of 11:15.97. Likewise, Kosgei finished 11th overall with a time of 11:57.98.

On the field, Emily Hundt claimed 21st place in the women's javelin throw. Hundt posted her best throw on her second pass, with a distance of 26.18m.
