Mosito Claims First in the Men's 10,000-meter at Conference Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Thobile Mosito claimed the first Blue Raider champion title on Friday evening during the second day of the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Charlotte. The junior distance runner claimed the Conference USA title with a time of 3:29.43 in the men's 10,000-meter event.
Meanwhile, three Blue Raiders placed among the top-15 during the second day of the Conference USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Similarly, in the men's 10,000-meter event, Dennis Kipkorir placed 12th in the Friday evening event, with a time of 32:52.16.
On the field, Isaac Odugbesan posted a sixth-place finish in the men's hammer throw. The sophomore's best throw was a distance of 54.86-meters, a new personal-best.
Julia Jelagat claimed a ninth-place finish in the women's 10,000-meter event final. Jelagat crossed the line with a time of 38:46.19.
The team will return to the track tomorrow morning for half of the field event finals and the running preliminary events.

History at the C-USA Championships
Most recently, the men's team claimed the indoor champion title in 2019, as the Blue Raiders finished with 143 points. Head Coach Dean Hayes was named the C-USA Men's Head Coach of the Year and Jacob Choge had the highest individual point total of any male athlete.
In 2018, the women's team claimed the indoor C-USA title with 127 combined points. The team claimed four champion titles, including three individual (Cecilia Francis – 60m, Abike Egbeniyi – 400m, Agnes Abu – 800m) and one relay title (Amponsah, Abu, Assafuah, Egbeniyi – 4x400). With the title, Agnes Abu earned the high point scorer of the meet honor as head coach Dean Hayes earned Coach of the Year accolades. After her impressive stint, Abike Egbeniyi earned the C-USA Female Track Athlete of the Year honor.

The men's track team claimed three individual champion title with two from Jacob Choge (3,000m, 5,000m) and Solomon Afful (200m).
