MURRELLS INLET, S.C. – Middle Tennessee begins its third consecutive postseason appearance on Monday as the 2019 NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional tees off at TPC Myrtle Beach.
The Par 72, 6,950-yard course is playing host to 14 teams Monday through Wednesday with Middle Tennessee representing Conference USA as the No. 12 seed in Myrtle Beach.
Wake Forest, ranked No. 4 in the nation according to Golfstat, is the No. 1 seed in Myrtle Beach leading a field that includes No. 8 California, No. 18 Texas Tech, No. 23 Illinois, No. 25 Florida State, No. 34 UNLV, No. 35 Oregon, No. 52 Ohio State, No. 54 Northwestern, No. 62 Oregon State, No. 67 Cal State Fullerton, No. 110 Middle Tennessee, No. 134 VCU and No. 259 Robert Morris.
Blue Raider sophomore Cooper Sears and junior Tanner Owens will bookend Middle Tennessee's lineup during the week with senior James Beckner in the middle of the lineup.
Freshman duo Palmer Sadlowski and Jake Marvelli will compete in the other two spots in head coach Mark McEntire's lineup.
Middle Tennessee senior Marcus Byrd will not be able to participate in the 2019 NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional on May 13-15.
"We hate to be without a player of Marcus's talent level," McEntire stated. "We believe in each of the guys we brought here though and we know they are capable of strong performances. This team has been hit with adversity all season long and now it's time to finish off the story."
Middle Tennessee is playing in its third consecutive regional after hosting the NCAA College Grove Regional in 2017 and competing in the NCAA Raleigh Regional in 2018.
The Blue Raider men's golf program is making its ninth postseason appearance in the last 12 seasons with hopes of advancing to its second NCAA Championship since 2008.
"We're excited to be back in the postseason with a chance to prove we belong next to some of the best teams and players in the country," Beckner said. "It's been a wild ride this season, but I'm thankful for the opportunity to be playing in regionals again this season as a senior and we are going to leave it all out on the course and see if we can make some noise."
Owens will tee off first for Middle Tennessee on Monday, going off of the 10th tee at 10:25 a.m. ET. He will be followed by Sadlowski, Beckner, Marvelli and Sears in 11-minute intervals.
