5/3/2019 8:43:00 PM | Baseball
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte (17-26-1, 8-13-1) used a three-run sixth inning to handle business Friday night, beating the Blue Raiders (16-28, 9-13) by a final of 4-2 on Friday evening.
It was a pitchers' duel through the first five innings, with Charlotte scoring the lone run in third inning on an infield RBI single. Right-hander Zach Keenan got the start for MT, going 3.2 innings but allowing just the one run. Brett Stratinsky would pick up the big hit for Middle Tennessee in the top of the sixth to tie things back up.
With two-on and two out, Stratinsky ripped an RBI single to right field to score Myles Christian who reached base on a single. But the good times wouldn't last long. The 49ers would respond with three runs on three hits in the sixth to give themselves the lead.
Peyton Wigginton would pick up an RBI, driving home Blake Benefield in the top of the eighth but that's all the Blue Raiders could get back. Wigginton led the Blue Raider offense with three base hits.
