MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Assistant Men's Golf Coach vacancy at Middle Tennessee has officially been filled as former Georgia Southern golf standout and Assistant Coach Cody O'Toole has accepted the same position with the Blue Raiders, Head Coach Mark McEntire announced on Wednesday.
O'Toole spent the 2018-19 season alongside Head Coach Carter Collins as the pair led the Eagles to a fourth place finish at the NCAA Stanford Regional and an appearance in the 2019 NCAA Championships at the Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Ark.
"We're very glad to have Cody joining the family," McEntire exclaimed. "This past year he played a key role in helping Georgia Southern compete in the National Championships. He was an excellent college golfer, and along with his experience as a professional golfer I feel that he will be a tremendous asset to our program."
Prior to beginning his coaching career at his alma mater, O'Toole earned status on both the PGA Tour Latinoamerica and the Asian Development Tour on which he played a combined total of 11 events.
After starting his career at Central Alabama Community College, O'Toole played his final two seasons of collegiate golf for the Eagles, logging a 74.3 stroke average with two Top 5 finishes and three Top 10 finishes to his name.
The Oneonta, Ala., native also boasts a pair of Academic All-America honors and graduated from Georgia Southern in May of 2017 with a bachelor's degree in finance.
"I am very thankful to have this opportunity to work with Coach McEntire and help build his vision for this program," O'Toole said. "There are big shoes to fill following the great job that Kent Bulle did last year, but we are excited to follow his return to his professional career. I look forward to hitting the road recruiting and finding some quality young men to join us at Middle Tennessee."
