Blue Raiders host sixth Intercollegiate at The Grove in October
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Men's Golf has officially completed the first half of its 2019 schedule Head Coach Mark McEntire announced Thursday, with the fall slate featuring the Blue Raiders' home event at The Grove as well as a November trip to the Bahamas to close out the semester.
The Raiders open their campaign on the road with a trip south to the Jim Rivers Intercollegiate (Sep. 15-17) hosted by Conference USA foe LA Tech at Squire Creek Country Club.
"We open up at Squire Creek and we will see some C-USA schools there as a part of a great field," McEntire stated. "They switched to 18 holes each day and the golf course is one of the best we play all year."
Middle Tennessee then returns to Cincinnati's Bearcat Invitational (Sep. 30-Oct. 1), where it attempted to open the 2018-19 season before rain canceled the event after only a handful of holes were completed.
McEntire's squad hosts their home event, The Intercollegiate at The Grove, for the fourth consecutive year this season, with another strong field joining the Raiders in College Grove on Oct. 6-8.
"The Grove will be the first week in October and we have another impressive field this fall," McEntire said. "We have increased the field and look to show off the progress on our new facility during the event."
MT will head back out on the road two weeks later to compete in the Little Rock Invitational (Oct. 21-22) at Chenal Country Club before closing out the fall with a bang.
"This is a new tourney on a course that just hosted the Southern Amateur," McEntire said. "It will be a great test and the course will be one that will be fun for our team to play on."
Middle's fifth and final event of the fall is the first ever playing of the White Sands Intercollegiate, a tournament hosted by Houston at the Ocean Club Golf Course in Paradise Island, Bahamas.
"We're really excited to be able to close the fall at this new tournament in the Bahamas," McEntire added. "This will be another tremendous field and great spot for our guys to finish of the fall season."
With four of five members of last May's NCAA Regional lineup returning plus a host of talented newcomers joining them in August, the Raiders look poised to have another strong season in hopes of defending their back-to-back league titles come April.
"We have some new faces on the team this year and a couple of exciting changes to our schedule this fall, so I really look forward to getting the players on campus and getting started," McEntire concluded.
