SAN JOSE, Costa Rica – With a win in game one already under their belts, Middle Tennessee took the opportunity to spread the wealth and get its many newcomers plenty of experience in the second and final game in Costa Rica.
The heavy rotation saw true freshmen Tyson Jackson, Eli Lawrence and Tyler Millin each play over 25 minutes as they continue to grow on the court and learn Head Coach Nick McDevitt's system, while the trio of DeAndre Dishman, C.J. Jones and Reggie Scurry each made way for their rookie teammates with under 15 minutes of playing time a piece.
In what was a close game the entire way, the Panama All-Stars would never stretch the lead to double digits until their final shot of the game dropped in to close the scoring for the contest at 88-77.
Senior Antonio Green led the young lineup in the second half, getting hot after the break to finish with an efficient 18 points on just 11 shots that included five 3-pointers in the game.
Jackson, a 6-foot-9 forward, impressed in the paint in his 27 minutes with 12 points and six rebounds while shooting 6 for 10 from the field. Lawrence matched his classmate with six boards of his own.
Junior Donovan Sims finished game two with 10 points to round out the double-digit scorers for MT and also led his squad with seven rebounds on the afternoon.
With the two-game series against the Panama All-Stars now complete, the Blue Raiders will transfer to Costa Rica's Pacific coast on Tuesday where they will enjoy some rest and relaxation as well as additional off-court team bonding activities in Playa Conchal.
