MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Head Men's Golf Coach Mark McEntire announced Friday the addition of Division I transfer and Tennessee junior golf product Michael Barnard to his 2019-20 roster.
Barnard joins the Blue Raiders after a redshirt season at the University of Tennessee and will be classified as a redshirt freshman in his first campaign at Middle Tennessee, for which he is immediately eligible.
"I am glad to have Michael and the Barnards back in the Blue Raider family," McEntire said. "He had a tremendous junior career as one of the best players in Tennessee and I look for that to continue here at MTSU. The next four years are going to be fun!"
A Hendersonville native and former Beech High School standout, Barnard was ranked 39th nationally by the Junior Golf Scoreboard entering his collegiate career.
Barnard finished second at the 2017 TSSAA State Championship, tied for third at the Tennessee Junior AM and earned another third place finish at the 2017 Under Armour/Scott Stallings Championship. He also placed fifth at the 2017 Junior PGA Championship and earned MVP honors for Team East at the Tennessee Junior Cup.
"I'm very excited to be coming back to Middle Tennessee with such a great group of guys," Barnard stated. "It's going to be very exciting to see what we do in these next couple of years in Murfreesboro."
