LEXINGTON, Ky. – Middle Tennessee closed out the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational Sunday by matching its best team round of the week, using a 4-over par 292 to collect a Top 5 finish at the University Club of Kentucky.
Three Blue Raiders earned Top 20 individual finishes on the week, led by a stellar 2-under par (70-74-70=214) performance by Junior Sophie Burks.
Her 2-under par 70 on the tournament's final day moved her into a tie for fifth in the field of 75 golfers, just three strokes back of the low medalist.
Fellow junior Caroline Caudill used a 1-under par 71 on Sunday to jump into the Top 20 as well, with her 6-over par (75-76-71=222) 54-hole total putting her one stroke ahead of rookie teammate Molly Bebelaar.
The freshman's 7-over par (76-72-75=223) finish landed her in a tie for 19th place, rounding out the Top 20 finishes for the Blue Raiders.
Sophomore Madison Smith finished the week at 11-over par and just ahead of the 13-over par score posted by junior Savannah Quick.
Catherine Caudill finished the week at 15-over par to round out the scoring for the Blue Raiders.
Middle Tennessee is back in action in less than a week, teeing off Friday at the Princess Anne Invitational hosted by Old Dominion.
"What a great tournament by Sophie and to get a couple more in the Top 20 was awesome," Head Coach Chris Adams said. "Caroline had a great round today and Molly was steady throughout. With a short turnaround again, I know they are tired and need a little break to get caught up, but they all played hard and gave everything they had."
