Raiders sweep Belmont

Middle Tennessee goes undefeated
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team commanded an undefeated finish to the Coach Dick LaLance Invite by sweeping Belmont on Sunday.
Opening the match with doubles, Middle Tennessee started strong with all courts picking up victories.
Senior Max Rauch and sophomore Sean Presson took down Belmont's David Faulkner and Jake Briggs 6-1 followed by newcomer Patrick Kristensen and Pavel Motl defeating Arthur Toledo and Grant Kelly 6-4.
Collecting two additional Blue Raider victories, Stijn Slump and Tom Moonen teamed up to overpower Belmont's Felix Rauch and Taisei Miyamoto 6-4 and to finish up the doubles sweep was No. 1 duo Chris Edge and Daniel Stormon owning Belmont's top pair Hendrik Inno and Marko Ilic, 6-3.
Heading into singles play Middle Tennessee remained confident to sweep all seven courts.
After earning a strong past two days, Rocha collected his third singles victory of the weekend by defeating Inno in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.
On court 2, Presson held Belmont's Kelly to only one game in the first set. Claiming the match, Presson downed Kelly 6-3 in the second set.
Patrick Kristensen flew in on Friday and began his freshman spring campaign on top with a straight set defeat over Belmont's Bruno Nunes 6-2, 6-0 while the savy veteran Moonen took down Briggs 6-2, 6-1 on court four.
Earning another straight set win, Stijn Slump overpowered Belmont's Miyamoto 6-3 in the first set and 6-4 in the second set.
Finding himself down early in the first set, Rauch battled back and took the match in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 over Faulkner.
Concluding the match, Motl fought in a tight match to earn the Raiders final victory of the weekend after taking the first set to Belmont's Toledo 7-6. The Bruin evened the match up in the second set to force a third. In the final set, Motl claimed the match with a 10-7 victory.
Middle Tennessee will return to action Friday for the first dual match of the season hosting Michigan State 5 p.m.
