Raiders Trek to Nashville for Vanderbilt Invitational

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee track and field teams are headed to Nashville this weekend for the Vanderbilt Invitational where they will face schools from a variety of conferences.
The Blue Raiders will compete in 15 running events and seven field events on the weekend. Last season at the same meet, MT brought home seven podium finishes and had 13 top-10 performances. Jaquez Torian claimed the title in the men's 400 meter dash with a time of 46.89s, which he is set to compete in again this season along with Willington Wright, Matthew Stewart and freshman Seth Crowder. The men's relay team also claimed first last season in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:08.81, and the women's relay team took second with a time of 3:42.05.
Last weekend, the Blue Raiders competed in the Jim Green Invitational hosted by the University of Kentucky where they claimed seven top-three finishes. Jacob Choge claimed the title in both the men's 800 meter run and the one mile run. Joice Jebor also showed a strong one mile run on the women's side, finishing third overall.
The meet this weekend is set to begin on Friday with the first field event beginning at 4 p.m. and the first running event at 7 p.m. Saturday will start with the women's 3000 meter run at 10 a.m. and the first field event will begin at 11 a.m.
