Raiders Finish Day One in Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Middle Tennessee track and field teams completed day one of the Green and Gold Invitational and saw nine Top-10 performances.
Akera Benton showed out in the women's triple jump, finishing second overall (11.69m) and Kyle Teague took seventh place in the men's high jump (1.84m).
The Blue Raiders had three women and four men qualify for the 60-meter dash finals on Saturday. For the women, Cecilia Francis, Mirlege Castor and Ida Mensah will be competing in tomorrow's finals and Benjamin Onyekwelu, Zabrion Whatley, Lamarco Petty and Keyon Hugle will compete in the men's finals. Regina Yeboah also qualified for the women's 60-meter hurdles finals on Saturday after taking ninth place in the preliminaries.
Agnes Abrocquah finished third overall in the women's 300-meter dash (40.45s) followed by Dorcas Gyimah in fifth (42.54s). Willington Wright claimed third place in the men's 300-meter dash with a time of 33.96s.
Both men's and women's relay teams claimed first and second in the distance relays. The men's B team took first with a time of 10:07.18 and the A team finished second with a time of 10:10.90. The women's A team claimed first place with a time of 12:10.88 and the B team finished second with a time of 12:11.34.
