Middle Tennessee Softball adds Nahri Tath-Slezak
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — After signing six future Blue Raiders to the 2020 recruiting class, Middle Tennessee head coach Jeff Breeden has added a seventh member to the upcoming class.
Utility player Nahri Tath-Slezak, a Fontana, California native, signed with Middle Tennessee last week and will join Amaya Harris, Jaya Herring, Makenzie Hutchinson, Ashlee Jacoway, Shelby Sargent, and Danielle Taitt as freshmen for the 2021 season.
In the fall, the Blue Raiders' recruiting class ranked 58th nationally and ninth among non-Power 5 teams. Tath-Slezak's addition to that class further strengthens Conference USA's best recruiting 2020 class.
A shortstop and pitcher on her high school and travel teams, Tath-Slezak will also be able to play second base and outfield when she becomes a Blue Raider next year. Tath-Slezak's teams were Citrus Belt League champions for two of the last three seasons, and she was most recently a co-captain for her high school team. Individually, Tath-Slezak has been named All-Citrus League First Team each of the last three years, and she earned the title of Citrus Belt MVP last season.
"Watching practice at MTSU, I could see that the coaches and team could take me to the next level in softball," Tath-Slezak said. "I love the support I'll have access to so that I can be successful in my academic and softball goals."
"Nahri's small, but she can really hit the ball as a power hitter. She'll have the opportunity to win a middle-infield job, and she'll play some outfield as well," Breeden said of the newest signee. "Off the field, she's kind of a quiet person, but on the field, she's high-energy and communicates well. I think she'll fit right in with the other signees we have coming in."
