MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Middle Tennessee men's tennis program is excited to welcome student-athlete Oskar Brostrom Poulsen to the Blue Raider program, head coach Jimmy Borendame announced Wednesday.
Poulsen, a native of Helsingør, Denmark has signed a National Letter of Intent to enroll at Middle Tennessee beginning in the fall of 2021. He has played tennis at the highest level both nationally and internationally throughout his junior career.
"Ozzy comes to us with all the tools," Borendame said. "He plays big and he can add a lot to our singles and doubles. I'm excited to see his game grow and develop. His ceiling is extremely high and more importantly he is a first-class person."
Poulsen was ranked No. 1 in Denmark in each of his age categories as a younger player and No. 165 in the world rankings. In 2018, he was the champion in five ITF tournaments and runner-up in three. He was the Danish champion in doubles and singles in 2016 and 2018 and won the Danish team championship in 2019. He competed at European Junior Championships in the winter/summer cups in 2014, 2016 and 2018. Poulsen finished 6th at the Davis Cup in 2018.
"I'm super excited to be a part of such an amazing and interesting team," said Poulsen. " I'm looking forward to giving my best on and off the court at anytime with the team."
