MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee men's tennis team will host its first of two on-campus events of fall 2026 when it welcomes players from four schools for the Middle Tennessee Invite between Oct. 16 and Oct. 18.
Houston Jacques, Santiago Lora, Alexandre Vassard and Rich LaLance will take the courts for the Blue Raiders, joining players from Belmont, UAB, Louisville and Alabama.
The matches will start with a six-game set of doubles, followed by a best-of-three set of singles.
Last weekend, Blue Raiders John Popowich, Asier Ayllon Prado, Antoine Mayoral, Clement Mayoral, Birtan Duran, Eric Crivei and Aryan Saleh all competed against the Ohio Valley's best, posting a total team record of 11-7 in singles and 4-3 in doubles. Notably, Saleh advanced to the semifinals in singles and the Mayoral brothers advanced to the quarterfinals in doubles.
The Middle Tennessee Invite will mark the first occasion that MTSU has hosted competitive tennis since the 2025 Conference USA Championship, which the Blue and White won for the seventh consecutive season after defeating Liberty, 4-2.
The Blue Raiders will begin competition on Friday at 2 p.m. against UAB, before facing Belmont on Saturday at 10 a.m. and two players each from Louisville and Alabama on Sunday at 10 a.m.
Local adversary Belmont most recently faced MTSU on March 15, 2012, which the latter won, 5-2.
The Blue Raiders and Blazers last met each other on Jan. 23, with the Murfreesboro outfit decisively winning, 6-1.
The date with the Crimson Tide will be the first since March 19, 2009, when the team from Tuscaloosa claimed victory, 4-0.
MTSU and Louisville last played each other on Feb. 13, with the Blue Raiders coming out on top, 4-2.
All of the action from the Middle Tennessee Invite will be streamed live (link to become available), and results will be posted on goblueraiders.com at the end of each match day.
Admission to the invite is free for all.
