Blue Raiders Head to North Carolina For Three Game Series With UNC

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee Baseball team heads to Chapel Hill, North Carolina to take on #13 ranked UNC in a three game series starting at 2:00 PM CST on Friday. The Blue Raiders are coming off an 18-37 season in 2019 and look to improve in Head Coach Jim Toman's second season with MT.

About the Blue Raiders
• The Blue Raider roster is made up of 26 newcomers accounting for 74.3 percent of the team.
• MT was picked to finish 12th in Conference USA for the second season in a row. The Blue Raiders are coming off an 18-37, 2019 campaign.
• While much of the team are newcomers the Blue Raiders also return starting pitchers Peyton Wigginton, Zach Keenan, and Josh Young who account for 10 of the teams 18 wins from last season. Wigginton and Young both collected C-USA honors in 2019; Young was named to the C-USA All-Freshman team and Wigginton made the C-USA All-Second team as a utility player.
Scouting the Tar Heels
• North Carolina boasted a 46-19 record in 2019 and won the ACC Tournament. UNC went on to host a Super Regional in Chapel Hill before falling to Auburn, two games to one, just shy of Omaha.
• As a team, the Tar Heels batted .274, with 78 home runs, and 434 RBI in 2019. UNC pitchers combined for a 4.28 ERA and allowed an opponent batting average of just .252 through 64 games.
• Tar Heel Head Coach Mike Fox is 936-399-1 in 21 seasons at Carolina.

• This is the first meeting between the Tar Heels and the Blue Raiders.
Next Time Out
• After the three game set against North Carolina the Blue Raiders will return home to take on Bradley, Evansville, Samford, and Missouri State in the Southern Athletic Field Classic. MT will open with Bradley at 3:00 PM on Thursday Feb. 20.
