YOUNGSVILLE, La. — Middle Tennessee (5-9) opened the Mardi Gras Mambo scoreless against the top two teams in the Southland Conference on Friday, but the Blue Raiders have two chances tomorrow to rebound.

» McNeese State took the field against Middle Tennessee for the first time since last season's opening game of the NISC.
» The Cowgirls entered play on Friday with a 10-2 record and have received votes in the national polls this year.
» Steady scoring paced the Cowgirls, beginning with three runs in the second inning.
» A leadoff home run in the third extended the lead, and McNeese State put the run rule in effect with two runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth.
» Gretchen Mead struck out a career high five batters in her second start of the year.
