Lady Raiders cruise past UTC

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's tennis earned a 4-1 win, defeating Chattanooga, marking 6th win of the season.
Battling to a victory over the Mocs, Middle Tennessee earned an eager start collecting the doubles point over UTC with wins on Courts 1 and 2.
Veteran Blue Raider duo, senior Lidia Burrows and junior Lee Barnard held UTC duo, Gibbons/Van Hee to four points earning the first doubles victory for the Raiders, followed by Blue Raider pair Zani Barnard and Marta Peris clinching the doubles point, 7-5 over Chattanooga's Young/Zaporozhets.
Earning a tenacious start in singles, Lee Barnard defeated Chattanooga's Goloputova in a straight set, 6-2, 6-0 putting the Raiders up, 2-0.
Burrows extended the Blue Raiders lead to 3-0 taking down Chattanooga's Zaporozhets 6-0, 6-3. UTC got on the board with a win on court four over Love-Star Alexis, 6-3, 6-3.
Freshman Muskan Gupta battled against Chattanooga's Dunavant on court six collecting the first set, 6-4. Coming back from a 1-2 deficit in the second set, Gupta stormed back to hold Dunavant to four points, clinching the match for the Blue Raiders, 6-4.
The Blue Raiders are back in action Sunday at Austin Peay at 12 p.m.
