Blue Raider Women Runners-Up at C-USA Championships; Men Place Third

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The 2020 Conference USA Indoor Track and Field Championships wrapped-up Sunday with the Middle Tennessee women named runners-up and the men capturing third place.
The women's team was just seven points shy of champion Rice with a total 103 points, and the men's team was 33 points away from first place Charlotte with 102. Aside from breaking the meet record in the men's 5,000-meter run Saturday, Jacob Choge claimed the men's High Point Scorer of the Meet award after placing top-three in the 800-meter, one mile and 3,00-meter events as well.
Cecilia Francis reclaimed her 2018 championship title in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.44s. Willington Wright finished top-five in two sprinting events, finishing fourth in the 200-meter dash and third in the 400-meter.
Several Blue Raider women set new personal bests in the mid-distance events. Eusila Chepkemei took the silver in the 800-meter, beating her personal best with a time of 2:12.63. Joice Jebor and Francisca Jebor both beat their times in the one mile, claiming second and seveth place overall.
The Blue Raider men had two individual champions in mid-distance, with Brian Rono claiming the gold in the 800-meter with a time of 1:52.28 and Jacob Choge winning the one mile run with a time of 4:06.88. Choge also came in second in the 800-meter behind Rono.
Kigen Chemadi took the crown in the 3,000-meter run, finishing in 8:12.31 and Choge followed closely behind to claim second with a time of 8:12.90.

The Blue Raider men's team (Lamarco Petty, Jaquez Torian, Matthew Stewart and Willington Wright) took second place in the relay in a time of 3:12.30, while the women's team (Glory Nyenke, Agnes Abrocquah, Patience Akanwogba and Shawkia Iddrisu) claimed third place with a final time of 3:46.59.
The meet concluded with the 4x400 meter relays.
