Raiders sweep doubleheader

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – No. 31 Middle Tennessee men's tennis earned back-to-back victories on Friday, defeating Conference USA foe UAB, 4-0, followed by a 6-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
Opening up the first match of the day against UAB, the Blue Raiders secured the doubles point on court 2 with Chris Edge and Tom Moonen defeating UAB's duo, Bradbary/Puric, 6-2.
Clinching the doubles point for the Raiders, sophomore tandem Pavel Motl and Stijn Slump battled against UAB's Lusovsky/Postolka and took down the Blazer duo, 6-2.
Leading 1-0 heading into singles, the Blue Raiders led on six courts after the first set with Tom Moonen winning the Raiders' first singles point on court 1 by defeating Postolka, 6-3, 6-0.
On court 5, Francisco Rocha extended Middle Tennessee's lead to 3-0 after winning in a straight set, 6-0, 6-3, over UAB's Puric.
Freshman Patrick Kristensen earned his first clinch as a Raider, winning the Blue Raiders' fourth point over the Blazers by taking down Vargas, 6-2, 6-2. The victory marked Kristensen's fourth dual win.
Coming off a powerful win over UAB, the Blue Raiders began play against UAPB.
The Raiders quickly won the doubles point over the Lions with wins on courts on all three courts.
On court 1, Moonen and Daniel Stormon took down UAPB pair Ledbetter/Ross 6-0 followed by Kristensen and Presson earning the win over Lion duo Harris/Jordan 6-1 on court 2.
In singles play, Stormon earned the first singles point for the Blue Raiders, taking down UAPB's Jordan in a straight set victory, 6-0, 6-0.
Stormon's victory was followed by a strong win on court 3 by Sean Presson, who earned a straight-set win over UAPB's Ross, 7-0, 6-0, advancing the Raiders' lead to 3-0.
Max Rauch earned the Raiders' fourth point by dominating Ledbetter on court 1, 6-1, 6-0.
Following Middle Tennesse's clinch, the remaining courts played out with the Raiders earning two more points, finalizing their lead to 6-0 over the Lions.
Middle Tennessee advances to 13-4 on the season and will be back in action in New Jersey on Mar. 1 as it takes on No. 24 Princeton.
