MT falls in first C-USA series finale

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Sunday's series finale between Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky came down to the final play at the plate, but the Blue Raider runner was called out to end the series.
MIDDLE TENNESSEE 1, WESTERN KENTUCKY 2
» Amber Baldwin got the start in the circle for the Blue Raiders for the second time this weekend and stranded two Hilltoppers to end the first inning.
» The Blue Raiders struck first, as Kaylee Richetto singled with one out, and pinch runner Keely McGee came around to score on a Lani Rodriguez single two batters later.
» MT then left two runners in scoring position to end its half of the third, but Baldwin tossed a flawless third to maintain the small lead.
» WKU took the lead in the fourth with a pair of unearned runs.
» Lexi Cushing was intentionally walked, and Richetto got her second single of the game with two outs in the sixth, but they were left on base as the half inning ended.
» A leadoff single by Rodriguez, her second hit of the day, gave MT a baserunner to start its last at bat.
» Summer Burgess then doubled with two outs, but the runner was called out at the plate to end the game.
