MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Middle Tennessee volleyball team was tested in its first match of the season, dropping a 3-0 contest at home against Lipscomb. The Blue Raiders (0-1) put up a fight in a third set but could not hold off the Bisons. Lipscomb (1-0) won by set scores of 25-17, 25-11, and 25-17.

Samira Lawson Body led the team with eight kills. Amelia Van Der Werff, Dasia Smith, and Emma Grever collected four kills. Megan Turner led the defensive effort with eight digs.

After a match opening kill from Taylor Eisert, the Blue Raiders fired off a 7-3 run. Lipscomb would then claw back and even the score at 11. The Bisons would soon take the lead, eventually taking the second set as well.

The Blue Raiders came back strong in the third set, opening with a 5-1 lead. The pair of teams battled back-and-forth, with Lipscomb going on a 15-5 run taking a 17-10 lead. The Blue Raiders would make a little comeback later in the set, but the Bisons would soon seal the 25-17 match-clinching win.

Middle Tennessee will back in action on Sunday as they face Lipscomb at 1:00 pm in Nashville.
