Blue Raiders Look To Bounce Back in Match Two at WKU

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Blue Raiders dropped their first match of the weekend series with the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, dropping their C-USA record down to 5-2.
Middle Tennessee's 38 errors, most on the attack, became too much to overcame in their first match against No. 20 Western Kentucky. The 25 attack errors compared to the Hilltopper's five, allowed WKU to beat MT in sets of 25-15, 25-12, and 25-20. The Blue Raiders didn't record a block for the first time this season.
Middle Tennessee at WKU Set-by-Set
Set one saw the Blue Raiders struggle with receiving, as the Hilltoppers capitalized and made little to no mistakes. Samira Lawson Body and Michaela Wright combined for eight kills in the set on an above .400 attack percentage. Taylor Eisert had three kills on three attempts, the first of the three coming in this set.
11 attack errors from Middle Tennessee headlined the second set. The team was able to amount as many kills as the Hilltoppers in the set (10) but struggled to clean up the mistakes on attack. Dasia Smith led the Blue Raiders in set two with three kills on a .400 attack percentage.
The Blue Raiders came out on fire in set three and capitalized on the few mistakes that WKU made. Middle Tennessee looked to have the set in control with a 16-9 lead at one point, but the Hilltoppers came back quickly with a 7-0 run partially due to unforced errors. With MT holding the lead at 19-18, Western came back with another run of 4-0 and finished the set off 25-20.
