Harvey walks it off against Wallace State CC in fall season finale

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Freshman Anyce Harvey connected on a two-RBI double in the bottom of the 10th to lift the Blue Raiders to a 6-5 home victory over the Wallace State Community College Lions on Tuesday at Blue Raider Softball Field.
Harvey led the Blue Raiders on the day, going 3-for-5 at the plate and knocking home three RBIs in the contest, including the two-run walkoff. Harvey also crossed home once herself. Junior Kelci Hill batted 2-for-5 in the contest, while tallying an RBI and recording a run. Freshman Abby Shoulders went 1-for-3 in the contest and knocked in an RBI. Sophomore Ashlee Jacoway recorded the last RBI for the Blue Raiders on a sacrifice fly.
Senior Corrina Dodd started on the mound for the Blue Raiders, putting in three innings of work and striking out two batters, while allowing a pair of hits and a run. Freshman Keri Munn also pitched three innings for MT, putting down a pair of Lions and giving up two hits. Senior Kailey Ahlstrom pitched two innings in the contest, giving up four runs on seven hits, but tallying a pair of strikeouts. Freshman Claire Woods closed out the contest for the Blue Raiders, putting in two innings of work, striking out two batters, and only allowing one hit.
Sophomore Amaya Harris led off the Blue Raiders in the top of the first, drawing the lead-off walk to get things going. Harris stole second before Hill connected on a ground-rule double to right center to plate Harris and give the Blue Raiders the opening 1-0 lead.
The Lions brought things even in the top of the third to put the game at 1-1.
Harris led things off in the third with another lead-off walk. Harris stole second before Mealer would move Harris to third off a sacrifice bunt. Harvey followed it up with a two-out RBI single to third base to plate Harris and kick the Blue Raiders lead back to one, 2-1.
The Blue Raiders added some insurance in the sixth. Mealer drew a lead-off walk to open the inning. Mealer stole second before Harvey knocked a single to left field to move Mealer to third. Shoulders tallied an RBI sacrifice bunt to plate Mealer and push the Middle Tennessee lead to two, 3-1. Jacoway followed it up with a one-out sacrifice fly to center field to bring across Harvey and give the Blue Raiders a 4-1 advantage after six.
The Lions came roaring back in the eighth, scoring four runs off five hits to take their first lead of the contest, 5-4.
Wallace State took the one-run advantage into the tenth, but the Blue Raiders were not ready to go home just yet. Harris led things off for the Blue Raiders, connecting on a lead-off ground-rule double to put the tying run in scoring position with no one out. Sargent came in to pinch run for Harris. Hill knocked a single to left field to move Sargent to third and put the go-ahead run on board. Hill stole second to put the go-ahead run into scoring position as well. Mealer drew a four-pitch walk to load the bases, but Harvey was the hero of the day. Harvey knocked the walk-off two-RBI double to right center to bring across Sargent and Hill and lift the Blue Raiders to the thrilling 6-5 win over the Wallace State Community College Lions.
