Dallas, Texas - Redshirt junior Michael Barnard has been named the Conference USA Men's Golf Player of the Week for October 6. The Hendersonville, Tenn., native finished fourth at the Trinity Forest Invitational this week with a score of 208 (-5).
Barnard bent the par-71, 7,330-yard course to his will in Tuesday's third and final round, recording six birdies and 12 pars for a career-best round of 65 (-6). He moved up from a tie for 21st after the second round to sole possession of fourth place Tuesday, starting the day at 1-over and ending with a 54-hole score of 208 (-5). His score of 65 equaled the fourth-lowest round by a Blue Raider player on record. Barnard's round Tuesday was the first by a Blue Raider this season with no holes above par.
The Trinity Forest Invitational was not a one-round show for Barnard, however. He led the field with 39 pars through three rounds. His score of 208 is tied for the 18th-lowest 54-hole score by a Blue Raider. Barnard was the highest-finishing C-USA player in a tournament featuring five conference teams.
Middle Tennessee finished the event tied for third as a team, recording the second-lowest round of the day Tuesday at 275 (-9).
