Blue Raiders begin four-game homestand with Snead State, Trevecca, and Tennessee Tech

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee Softball continues their fall schedule with three home contests beginning on Thursday as they host Snead State Community College for a 5 p.m. matchup. The Blue Raiders close the week hosting Trevecca on Saturday and Tennessee Tech on Sunday, with first pitch slated for 2 p.m. for both weekend contests, at Blue Raider Softball Field.
The Blue Raiders are 1-1 through their two games during the fall season so far. Middle Tennessee opened the season with an impressive 17-0 shutout win against the Volunteer State Pioneers. The Blue Raiders are featuring a lot of new faces and have played 13 starters through their first two games. Middle Tennessee has also featured different looks and rotations on the mound, pitching seven arms through 20 innings to begin the fall campaign.
Last season, Snead State finished 28-21, including a 17-15 mark in Alabama Community College Conference play. The Parsons finished fourth in the ACCC North last season and earned a berth to the ACCC Tournament, finishing a game shy of the ACCC Tournament quarterfinals. During the Parsons 2020-21 campaign, the team was led offensively by Shelby Payne, who posted a team-best .451 batting average and tallied a team-high 79 hits over 175 at-bats and scored a team second-best 55 runs with 11 home runs and 33 RBIs. Payne also stole a team-best 21 bases last season. Molly Pendley led the Parsons last season with 68 RBIs and 21 home runs, while tallying 65 hits and 48 runs over 150 at-bats and batting a .433. Madison Wright posted a team-low 3.21 ERA with a 14-5 record with a team-best 151 strikeouts in 2021.
Trevecca is coming off a 2021 season that saw the team finish 27-14, including 14-4 in Great Midwest Athletic Conference play and earn a berth to the NCAA D-II Midwest Regional. Last season, the Trojans were led by MaKray Odom with a .467 batting average and a team-best 63 hits and 35 runs scored. Odom also tied for a team second-best 23 RBIs last season. Carly Sperlich led the Trojans in RBIs last season putting 36 runners across home plate. On the mound, Raygn Hall led the Trojans with 26 appearances and 21 starts. Hall led the team with a 2.76 ERA and a 14-10 record with 78 strikeouts. As a pitching staff, the Trojans tallied seven shutouts during their 2021 campaign.
The Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles finished the 2021 season 19-30 overall, which was the Golden Eagles best finish since the 2016 campaign. The Golden Eagles were led last season by Mackenzie Fitzgerald with 46 hits, including 11 extra-base hits, a team-best 22 runs scored, and tying for a team second-best 20 RBIs. Nicolle Nysted led the Blue Raiders with 23 RBIs and hit a team-best eight home runs during the 2021 season. Alyssa Arden and Haeli Bryson led TTU last season on the mound with 32 and 22 appearances, respectively. Arden recorded a 10-15 record and tallied a team-best 96 strikeouts. Bryson posted a team-low 3.07 ERA with 66 strikeouts during the Golden Eagles 2021 campaign.
