MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Middle Tennessee Soccer's Senior Peyton DePriest and junior Caroline Manley were named to the United Soccer Coaches All-South Region Team, as announced by the organization Monday evening.
Senior forward DePriest was named to the All-Region First Team, while junior defender Manley was an All-Region Third Team selection. The selection marks DePriest's fifth career All-Region plaudit and fourth first team honor, while marking the first-ever All-Region selection of Manley's career.
For DePriest, the honor adds to her trove of accolades from an outstanding fifth season in Murfreesboro, having already been named C-USA Offensive Player of the Year, All-C-USA First Team, C-USA All-Academic First Team, and CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. She led C-USA and the Blue Raiders during the 2021 season in goals scored (12), points (28), shots (79), and shots on goal (40).
DePriest had numerous clutch performances throughout the 2021 season for the Blue Raiders, which included a pair of game-winners, of which her second goal during the 87th minute against the then reigning 2020 SEC Tournament Champion Vanderbilt Commodores, is at the top of the list. She also scored a brace against Ole Miss and netted the game-winning goal during the Blue Raiders shutout win against the UTEP Miners. Nationally, DePriest ranked 10th in shots per game, 16th in shots on goal per game, 34th in goals scored, and 42nd in total points.
For Manley, the selection joins Manley's C-USA All-Tournament Team selection for her outstanding performance during the 2021 C-USA Championship.
Manley was an anchor for the Blue Raiders backline, playing the entire season as the Blue Raiders primary centerback, and just like DePriest, produced numerous clutch performances throughout the 2021 campaign. Manley's most important performance of the season came during the Blue Raiders win over Vanderbilt, as the defender stepped into goal during the 88th minute when Suder left to collect the ball following a Commodore free kick and following the Commodores final shot on goal of the contest, Manley made the incredible game-saving right-footed block to seal the Blue Raiders 2-1 upset victory. Manley played and started in all 19 contests, as well as playing in every minute (1790) of the Blue Raiders 19 contests this past season. She also recorded five shots during the 2021 campaign, putting three of those shots on target.
