Blue Raiders Drop Final Match of Regular Season

NORFOLK, Va. – The Blue Raiders drop their last two matches of the season during their weekend series with Old Dominion. Middle Tennessee moves to 6-6 in conference play and 8-10 overall on the season.
Errors came to bite the Blue Raiders in both matches this weekend. The Blue Raiders will stay the second seed for the conference tournament and will take on the third seed from the Western Division in Conference USA.
Urte Neimantaite stepped up today and had 12 kills on a .321 attack percentage. Kayla Henley had eight kills on the day which moves her up to 10th on the all-time kills list for the 25-point rally scoring era right behind Samira Lawson Body. As a team, the Blue Raiders continued to improve their block numbers with nine on the day but the Monarchs had 13. Both teams had over a total of 40 errors in match two.
Middle Tennessee at Old Dominion Set-by-Set
Set one was summed up by the difference in errors with Middle Tennessee's 13 and Old Dominion's five. Neimantaite came in later on in the set and gave the offense juice, hitting two of her three attempts home. As a team, the Blue Raider's -.028 attack percentage saw them drop the set 13-25.
Dasia Smith got the second started with an emphatic block. Kayla Henley had an efficient set with four kills on six attempts to go along with her two blocks. Marley Banton and Melisa Tore teamed up for an ace each. The Blue Raiders took set two 25-21.
The Monarchs got off to a fast 4-0 start that included three errors from Middle Tennessee. Neimantaite had an electric six kills on seven attempts in set four. The theme of the set was the nine attack errors to Old Dominion's one attack error. The Monarchs took set three 25-17.
The final set was the most competitive set of the day, that saw both teams rack up similar stats through the end. A couple of errors at the end of the set saw the Monarchs win it 25-23.
