Blue Raiders name 2022 captains

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee baseball announced four team captains and two alternate captains for the 2022 season Tuesday.
Fausto Lopez, Zach Keenan, JT Mabry and Trent Seibert were voted on by teammates to lead and represent the Blue Raiders in the 2022 season. Brian Dillingham and Mason Speirs were named alternate captains.
Fausto Lopez • SR • INF • 5-8 • 175 • Orlando, Fla.
Lopez enters his third season in the Blue Raider infield with a career batting average of .293 and on base percentage of .375 in 71 career games. Lopez finished first in Conference USA among base stealers and tied for 23rd in the country with 23 stolen bases in 2021.
Zach Keenan • SR • P • 6-6 • 225 • Suwanee, GA
In 50 career appearances on the mound, Keenan is 8-11 with a 4.24 earned run average and 186 strikeouts. The fifth-year senior is coming off career bests in innings pitched (65.1) and strikeouts (62) in 2021.
JT Mabry • JR • INF • 6-0 • 170 • Chesterfield, MO
Mabry saw an increase in production at the plate last season, hitting .277 in 188 at-bats. Entering the season without a home run in his career, Mabry hit a team-high six long balls throughout the season. He finished second on the team with 22 RBI.
Trent Seibert • Senior • P • 6-2 • 190 • Fuquay-Varina, N.C.
After transferring over from Charleston Southern, Seibert made 14 appearances (11 starts) and finished with a 3.77 earned run average. Seibert recorded 51 strikeouts and pitched 17.1 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run from May 2 to May 28.
Brian Dillingham • Senior • OF • 5-10 • 195 • Brandenton, Fla.
Dillingham has played in 44 games in two years as a Blue Raider and has made just three errors in the field to contribute to a .956 career fielding percentage. Dillingham notched his first two career home runs last season along with driving in nine runners at the plate.
Mason Speirs • Senior • C • 5-11 • 215 • Westminster, CO
Speirs has emerged as a solid defensive catcher in his two years behind the plate at Middle Tennessee. He enters 2022 with a .987 fielding percentage and 205 putouts in 37 career games. On offense, Speirs' 2020 campaign featured a .290 batting average, .484 slugging percentage and .353 on base percentage in 12 games.
Middle Tennessee's 56-game regular season slate begins Feb. 18 in Wilmington, N.C. The Blue Raiders return seven position player starters and 12 pitchers from last season and bring in 22 newcomers.
