Raiders drop conference opener to Western Kentucky
2/26/2021 9:43:00 PM | Women's Soccer
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee opened up Conference USA play on Friday night, playing host to the all too familiar Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. The Blue Raiders did not get off to the start of the season that they were hoping for, dropping the contest 3-1.
Western Kentucky would net their first goal off of a set piece early in the first half. No other goals would be scored during the half, however, there would be plenty of fouls called against both teams. There were also two yellow cards shown to each team in the first half.
The Hilltoppers would get their next goal just five minutes into the second half off of another set piece. The Blue Raiders did all they could to get back into the game, finally having something to show for it after senior standout Peyton DePriest put away her first goal of the season off an assist from Sam DeBien in the 87th minute.
Middle Tennessee still has plenty of soccer left to play this season and will be looking to get things back on track in their next match-up.
The Blue Raiders will be on the road for their next match when they travel to Norfolk, Virginia to take on Old Dominion. The match will take place on Friday, March 5 at 7:00 p.m.
