STATESBORO, Ga. – The Blue Raiders managed to move up a spot on the team leaderboard despite failing to deliver their best on Saturday at the Schenkel Invitational, now sitting in fifth after a round of 7-over par 295.

Middle Tennessee will enter day three two strokes clear of sixth place College of Charleston (+8) and 10 strokes back of fourth place FGCU (-4), needing a strong round on Sunday to hold off the Cougars and push the Eagles for the fourth spot.

"The conditions were very difficult for us out there today, and I'm not very happy with the way we finished the round," Head Coach Mark McEntire said. "We really played the Par 5 holes pretty poorly and will have to do a better job there to have a great finish tomorrow."

Connor McKay logged his 11th consecutive round under par on Saturday, using his second 2-under par 70 of the tournament to move into the Top 10 and will enter day three tied for eighth at 4-under par.

Kevin Jegers and Michael Barnard had moved into the Top 20 in the field at even par on the weekend, but both finished bogey-bogey on holes 17 and 18 and sit tied for 26th at 2-over par with 18 holes to go.

Tanner Owens also bogeyed 17 before finishing with a par to sit 6-over par for the weekend, while Owen Stamper's bogey-double bogey finish dropped the true freshman to 16-over par for the tournament.

"We got another good round from Connor today," McEntire added. "Eleven rounds under par in a row is really impressive, but we have to start helping him with some more low rounds from the rest of the lineup."

Round three tees off at 8:30 a.m. ET on Sunday. Live scoring can be followed at Golfstat.com.
