BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Middle Tennessee's softball season came to a conclusion in the first game of the Conference USA Championship, as the Blue Raiders dropped a 4-2 decision against UTSA.
MIDDLE TENNESSEE 2, UTSA 4
» MT entered as the five-seed in this year's tournament, while the Roadrunners were the eighth team in.
» After both teams went hitless in the first inning, UTSA led off the second with a home run to give the Roadrunners the first run of the tournament.
» UTSA put another ball over the outfield wall in the third inning, scoring three and making it a 4-0 game.
» The Blue Raiders answered in the fourth, as Jocelynn De La Cruz hit a two-out double followed by Lexi Cushing's 50th career home run to make it a two-run game.
» De La Cruz had another hit with two outs in the sixth, but MT's pinch runner couldn't advance past first base.
» No runs were scored by either team in the seventh, allowing the Roadrunners to advance to the second round of the C-USA Championship.
» Amber Baldwin got the start, and Corrina Dodd entered for five scoreless innings.
» De La Cruz finished 3-for-3 on the day for her 12th multi-hit game of the season, the second-most of any Blue Raider.
» Summer Burgess's Blue Raider career ended with a start in all 246 games and a program-record 271 hits.
» Cushing ended her career in a MT uniform with program records for home runs (50) and RBIs (145).
» Claire Smith had a hit, and De La Cruz, Baldwin and Ryan King also started in the last game of their senior year.
