Jana Want named CUSA Freshman of the Year; Three more Blue Raiders honored

Leila Ammon, Ansley Blevins, Macie Harter and Jana Want named to CUSA End-of-Season Awards
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Four Blue Raiders were recognized with Conference USA superlative honors and All-Conference Team selections, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, May 6.
Jana Want – Freshman of the Year, First Team All-Conference, All-Freshman Team
After a standout freshman campaign, Jana Want was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Year. She started every game for the Blue Raiders at third base and earned CUSA Freshman of the Week honors twice, on Feb. 10 and March 10.
Want led the team in multiple offensive categories, including batting average (.342), on-base percentage (.479), slugging percentage (.610), OPS (1.089), hits (50), RBI (37), runs scored (33), and walks (37). She ranked 10th in CUSA in home runs, fourth in OBP, 10th in slugging, and second in walks. Among freshmen in the conference, Want led in batting average, OPS, home runs, RBI, slugging, OBP, and ranked second in runs scored.
In conference play, she posted a .333 average, .500 OBP, .667 slugging percentage, 22 runs, 19 RBI, and 24 walks. Want recorded 14 multi-hit games, reached base three or more times in 10 games, and had a 14-game hitting streak from Feb. 28–March 20. She tied both the program and Liberty Softball Stadium records with six RBIs in MTSU's upset win over No. 24 Liberty.
Ansley Blevins – First Team All-Conference
Ansley Blevins started every game she played, primarily at catcher. She was named Conference USA Player of the Week on March 3. Blevins ranked fifth in CUSA with 14 home runs—79th nationally—and finished third in both home runs (10) and RBI (28) during conference play. Her .753 slugging percentage ranked fourth in the league.
The junior compiled a slash line of .267/.381/.618, with 14 home runs, 23 walks, 35 hits, and 37 RBI. Defensively, she led CUSA in runners caught stealing with 12.
Highlights included a two-home run, one-double performance in MTSU's run-rule win at FIU; a 3-for-3 game with two home runs and four RBI against Sam Houston; a crucial three-run homer in the upset at No. 24 Liberty; and a walk-off home run against Illinois State to complete a comeback win.
Macie Harter – Second Team All-Conference and All-Freshman Team
Macie Harter started every game in left field and earned CUSA Freshman of the Week honors on May 5. She led the conference in triples (6), tying the single-season program record last set in 2016. Harter also ranked fourth in sacrifice bunts (7), showcasing her versatility and speed.
In conference play, she led the team with a .341 batting average. Overall, she posted a .280/.377/.414 slash line, with 15 extra-base hits, 21 walks, and 44 total hits. Defensively, she was exceptional, posting a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage in conference play and .991 overall with 98 putouts and nine assists.
Top performances included a 2-for-3 outing with a double, triple, walk, three runs, two RBI, and a stolen base in the win over Rutgers; three walks and a run scored in the upset at Liberty; and five hits with three runs scored during the Kennesaw State series.
Leila Ammon – All Freshman Team
Leila Ammon capped her freshman season with a team-best 3.12 ERA across 136.2 innings pitched. She struck out 91 batters, held opponents to a .283 batting average, and recorded eight complete games.
A two-time CUSA Freshman of the Week and one-time Pitcher of the Week, Ammon ranked third in the conference in innings pitched, seventh in strikeouts, and seventh in complete games.
Notable performances included a complete-game outing at No. 19 Mississippi State, where she held the Bulldogs to just two runs; a six-inning, one-run effort in the upset win at Liberty that ended the Flames' 12-game home win streak; and a 10-strikeout performance at LA Tech.
Offensively, Ammon batted .227 with 10 hits, four runs, and a home run—the latter a go-ahead shot against Kennesaw State. She closed the season with a dominant sweep of UTEP, earning a 2–0 record and a 0.58 ERA in two complete games.
