MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women's soccer will get a chance at one last tune up before its season opener on Sunday as the Blue Raiders travel to Clarksville to take on the Austin Peay Governors at Morgan Bros. Soccer Field for their final exhibition matchup of the year. Kickoff set for 1 p.m.
Series History
Middle Tennessee holds the all-time series lead over the Govs with a 5-2 record between the two programs. In Clarksville, the Blue Raiders hold a 2-1 advantage over the Governors on their home field.
Last Time Out
The Blue Raiders are hot off a dominant 2-0 road win against the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles on Thursday. Middle Tennessee's win was a full team effort as 25 Blue Raiders tallied minutes in the contest, including the Blue Raider trio of keepers. Freshman Kirstine Lykke and sophomore Mia Roberts netted the Blue Raiders pair of goals, and the backline held the Golden Eagles to only one shot on goal during the contest.
2021 Blue Raiders
This year's roster is comprised of 30 players, including 17 returners and 13 newcomers. Coach Aston Rhoden brought in an impressive freshman recruiting class this past spring and summer, including 10 freshmen, that will look to make an impact during the Blue Raiders 2021 campaign.
2021 Fall Slate
Following a season like no other, the Blue Raiders are looking to make a statement in the C-USA during the 2021 season. Middle Tennessee's non-conference schedule includes two Power 5 programs with matchups at Vanderbilt and Ole Miss, who came in at No. 18 and No. 23 in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll respectively, along with in-state foes Belmont and ETSU. The Blue Raiders non-conference schedule is completed with tilts against Samford, Evansville, Detroit Mercy, and Houston Baptist. C-USA play begins Sept. 16 as the Blue Raiders host FIU.
Up Next
Middle Tennessee kicks off its 2021 season on Thursday, Aug. 19 as the Blue Raiders host the Belmont Bruins for a 7:30 p.m. matchup at Dean A Hayes Track & Soccer Stadium.
