LAS VEGAS, Nev. – On Wednesday night head men's tennis coach Jimmy Borendame was named the 2021 Steve Wilkinson College Coach of the Year by the United States Professional Tennis Association. After a multitude of successful seasons at the helm in Murfreesboro, Borendame has earned another distinguished honor.
For those counting at home, this is the eighth Coach of the Year award that Borendame has claimed in 10 years along with four NCAA Tournament appearances as a head coach.
It is another significant accomplishment for Borendame to be nominated and recognized by his peers for his professional achievements. Unfortunately, Borendame wasn't able to receive this prestigious award in person due to his team playing the ITA Regional Championship in Knoxville this week.

"Thank you for this amazing award! All of the credit goes to the people around me. I am lucky that I am surrounded by so many outstanding assistant coaches, amazing student-athletes, a very supportive staff and administration. There are so many people I want to thank. I am also thankful to my wife and two kids who support me in doing what I love and put up with me. I am grateful to my mom and dad for pushing me to find a profession that I truly enjoy every day. I have never thought of coaching as a job, I truly love and enjoy what I do. I get to mold young people into men and share my love of the game of tennis with them at the same time."
